KARK reports the Cabot Justice Center in Arkansas won a regional interior design award from the South-Central Section of the American Society of Interior Designers. According to Arkansas Radio, city officials received the honor for the center’s smart renovation that turns public services into a single, efficient hub.
From Shopping Center to Civic Core
Funded by a voter-approved municipal bond in 2021, the 44,000-square-foot building started as an abandoned shopping center. Now it houses the Cabot Police Department, city administration, District Court, Lonoke County 911 dispatch, and Connect2First fiber utility—all under one roof.
WDD Architects from North Little Rock led the design, with construction handled in two phases by Baldwin & Shell and Nabholz. Engineering came from Halff, HSA, and Jacques Pierini. The project stayed on budget and stands out for its flexible layout.
Standout Community Space
One highlight is the multi-use meeting room that handles City Council sessions, Planning Commission meetings, District Court, and other public events. Officials point to this as a sign of Cabot’s focus on practical, community-driven spaces.
WDD Architects will hand over the award at the Cabot City Council meeting on March 23 at 6:30 p.m., located at 805 West Main Street.
